In order to get to the positive mindset you need to express your own feelings. The correct response if someone is being "negative" aka expressing their feelings is to listen reflectively and empathetically. Peoe do not always want answers and just need to someone else to acknowledge them. In turn this leads to them being more likely to find the mindset of working through it. If they ask for advice give them advice. Otherwise just listen and off your support at the very least. I think it's not a good idea on this subreddit to react harshly towards someone having a bad time. Stutterering males have higher sucidal rates than average men and stutterers are far more likely to develop long term depression, especially women that stutter. You can save a life if you just listen. Avoid going the brightside route until a certain point. People do not always need solutions as they know them, they just want to be heard. I know you mean well.
