It was a pretty big surprise to me, to be honest. I was at a good 'level' with the booze at that point but I have also been experimenting with changing the tone of my voice. Lowering the octave a little bit and sounding a little bit more gravelly. This makes me produce more from the chest and less from the mouth/lips. Plus sounds cooler and manlier too! I've been working on speaking with a full breath and that seems to help. When I was up there it was all a speech from the heart, so there was not that much pressure. I didn't rehearse one single time. I did it like I treat job interviews; bringing the situation to a more conversational level and lowering the formality. That tends to bring the stress down too.
