This is really exciting research... I think. My inner silent speech has been quite rocky for a long, long time... and because I have enough privacy, I've actually transitioned to where I do most of my thinking and writing about big topics with a quiet oral speech in my apartment. The thoughts just flow more quickly and easily, somehow. My inner speech tends to get a lot more smooth, during seasons of my life when I don't have as much privacy, and I need to start using it more often. I would love to see researchers like this develop therapies and ideas for making inner speech easier and smoother. That really would be an effective place to throw their energy, I think.
