I'm open enough if I'm talking to somebody if it makes sense. The other day I had an interview, so I told them at the start when I started having some trouble. If I'm at a store and ask where something is, or ordering food somewhere, I won't say anything. The level of interaction in those scenarios are so short and insignificant, it doesn't matter if she thinks I'm weird. If it makes sense I tell them, that way it's also easier for them for focus on the message and not be bewildered by what sounds like a bumbling fool when they first hear me speak (since for many people it's their first encounter).
