I'm 35. I've stuttered since I was 3. The only person who can make you feel small is you, my friend. No one else can get inside your head and drag you down. Confidence can make up for a paucity of elocution. Your stutter does not define you and it never will. As for people thinking you're stupid, I can relate, but over the years I have come to see my stutter as a litmus test: those worth having in my life wait for me to finish speaking no matter how hard I struggle, and those who deserve to be outside the Circle of Trust giggle and try to finish your words for you. In the words of Dr. Seuss: those who matter don't care, and those who care don't matter.
