If your goal is that “no one suspects a thing”, that can make dysfluency worse over time. Why can’t you just try saying “I have a speech dysfluency and it takes a big longer for me to talk. (Add a humorous quip). What’s the worst that can happen? I usually ask a zillion questions to waitstaff - and I doubt the extra time results in anything horrible happening to my food
