[RESOURCE] Speech Therapy Techniques Hey r/Stutter I'm trying to compile speech therapy techniques that we all probably learned in the past. Stuttering is a very complex disorder and it's hard to remember all the stuff we learned in speech therapy at once. So here I've compiled Youtube videos that display some of the speech therapy techniques I've learned in the past in speech therapy class. Techniques are really hit or miss for me. Some work really well and others don't really work. Hopefully we could compile some techniques we've learned in the past and share what works and what doesn't. Feel free to share techniques you've learned! General Vocal Training 1) [Proper Posture](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epNEiWCpslo&t=55s)- Optimize your body to take in the most air as possible when you take a breath. 2) [Diaphragmatic Breathing] (https://youtu.be/WhLm1xqrrrk?t=75)- Relaxes your body and vocal chords and lets you breathe as deep as possible. People normally talk on a bed of exhaled air and having a larger bed of air will allow you to talk more loudly. General Stuttering Techniques 1) [Easy Onset/Light Contacts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ilZwu3SEL8&t=19s)- Soften the sound of the first couple of syllabus in each sentence. This will help you glide through words when you anticipate a stutter at the start of a sentence. 2) [Air Flow Technique](https://youtu.be/ZEwYs9wlmx4?t=58)- Make sure to only talk when you are exhaling. Exhale a little at first and let your speech ride on a steady flow of exhaled air. 3) [Reduced Rate](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH8kW_D9UcE)- Stutterers tend to talk at a very high speed out of a fear of stuttering. Start talking much slower than your natural rate and slowly ramp up the speed to a rate you prefer. Repetition Stuttering Techniques (Ex: "My name is An-An-Anthony") 1) [Prolongation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP3gksGRqMM)- Instead of repeating a certain phrase get the word out by prolonging the sound of the word you are stuck on. Speech Blocks Techniques (Ex: "My name is____________Anthony") 1) Pre-Block Technique-???????????? 2) In-Block Techniques- [Pull Out Technique](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhNOf9diu88&t=33s) 3) Post-Block Techniques- [Cancellation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9mtkjM73X8&t=35s) I had trouble finding Pre-Block techniques. What have you used in the past?
