The literature is all over the place. Yeah sure is neurological, but unless you damaged your brain, that neurotic behavior come from years of stuttering and not correcting said behavior right away, you basically trained yourself to stutter subconsciously. There's a dude who researched something about the valsalva response. Our bodies got trained to close its throat under certain conditions. Search stuttering and the valsalva response.
