Also avoiding some things that cause stress or make stuttering worse & actively preventing situations of discomfort. I don’t drink coffee now because it makes my stutter worse, I always tell people that I stutter as soon as I can, I have a notes app on a quick reach, I bluntly tell people that I prefer when they don’t try to complete the words for me, when I go to the pharmacy I have my order typed out in the notes app, same with doctor appointments. Nobody will judge you for making life easier for yourself, and if they will - fuck them! Recently I met a girl who has stutter very similar to mine, and our conversations are hilarious to listen for both of us. Straight up monty python. I realised that nobody cares about my stutter more than I do, so might as well just relax. My stutter is not better now, it’s the same as 7-10 years ago. But my mental state is better and my life is happier because of that!
