I am also a mild to moderate stutterer and I also deal with blocks. I have been to therapy before but I had to "shop around" to find a therapist who gave me cognitive behavioral therapy to help me learn how to deal with the stress and embarrassment I feel when I stutter. I combined that with the most awesome SLP in the world, we met when I was 8 years old and we are still in contact today (I'm 35). Both my therapist and SLP were provided to me through free programs from a local teaching hospital and university. I hope you find the right therapist, definitely do not stop looking until you find one that you really connect with.
