You summed it up perfectly. I do exercises daily, such as: reading out loud various texts, speaking to myself in the mirror, trying variations of speaking faster/slower, breathing exercises. These are just things I came up with myself. I didn't go to a speech therapist. I find that talking in a rhythm makes it much better but that would sound like I'm singing a song everytime I need to talk to people. I also have social anxiety (dunno what really came first, though) which makes it 1000x worse. I swallow up many sounds, trip over words, feel like im drooling while talking, need to cough many times and so on.
