> don’t directly target stuttering yes unfortunately :( what i found so interesting about the study i linked in my original post is that the results were significant when combining SSRIs and benzodiazepines, which both target the parts of stuttering. a couple studies i’ve read have linked anxiety to the reason why stuttering can flare up and i think the benzodiazepines are to target that anxiety directly and you’re meant to go off it but remain on the SSRI for any tiny anxiety. it even mentions that in the article people who took just SSRIs alone didn’t see any significant results. hopefully the same effect can happen with SNRIs as that’s what my pristiq is and my doctor didn’t want to change it immediately together lol. best of luck with your search for a psychiatrist, it’s crazy how expensive it gets :((
