I play games with friends and had a little interesting experiment with myself So I play a lot of Halo 5 Online, my main relaxer currently from College. I play in a company of around 100 other people from all around the world but mostly 16 guys at a time. I stutter a lot but primarily just repeating myself. I have the occasional block but I try to hide it as best I can if I can feel it come up. So sometimes when I speak on my mic, I try to add input to certain topics. Sometimes only to realise that my mic is muted. When I notice this, I immediately turn it back on and try to repeat what I said. Sometimes I can say what I said easily, others I just can't and get a massive block. Due to this, I immediately decided to do an experiment with myself with how my speech was relative to my mic being muted or unmuted: Whenever I consciously knew my mic was unmuted, it would be near impossible to get the word out. I began to turn my mic off and repeat the same thing, this time it instantly comes out with no struggle or issue. When I unmute my mic to say it to my teammates, I can't without massive struggle. I attempt this multiple times with few seconds in between mutes and unmutes on my mic. My conclusion with this is like a light switch between speaking to yourself and speaking with others. Everytime I muted my mic, it was easier for me to speak, each time I unmuted my mic, it was near impossible to say the same things only with a few seconds (~2) in between the action. Any input on this? Edit: I wanted to add that it's literally like a light switch, Mute = can speak -- Unmute = Can't speak. On -off, on-off. It was so weird
