don’t apologise for the tangent i found it interesting. i definitely hate how media is incapable of having a flawed but normal character throughout. as you said, they always end with ‘overcoming’ their disability or personality trait that doesn’t fit the perfect mould, women characters especially. i’d honestly love to just see a character with a stutter where it isn’t even mentioned. just a normal person who also happens to have a stutter but their stutter having nothing to do with the plot. i highly doubt that will ever happen because as you said, films and tv shows love to have their characters overcome and completely get rid of a neurological disability that has no cure… its nice to think about though
