stutterers should be allowed longer waiting, not less. but there used to be too many bad parents and bad teachers who would wait less for stutterers. impatient assholes. i think that's why some of us feel this pressure to speak fast as possible. it sucks. so i think sentence indicators should be normalized to reduce pressure and anxiety. any gesture system to indicate beginning/end of sentences would work. for example, raising five fingers to indicate you're about to begin responding with five sentences (more or less, no need to be precise), and then putting down fingers one by one as you indicate ends of first sentence, second sentence and so on. all fingers down mean you're finished. but if you're not, just raise five fingers again. the point is as long as your fingers are up, nobody should interrupt you and it's like having a progress bar.
