Speech therapy session went well today! So lately I have been having emotional issues with my stuttering and decided to get help again. Moving to a new city and having to meet people can be really stressful. So this is the 3rd time I met with my speech pathologist, she is a 2nd year graduate student, and I have told her how I feel about my stuttering. One of the things I wanted to work on was on my name. I want to feel confident when I say my name! My name is not Alizzie.. or Elacy... it is Lizzie. So today we went out of the clinic and I practiced pseudo stuttering and the stretch syllable technique while saying my name. The first time I did it I cried. I felt so choked up. I felt so embarrassed stuttering in front of people. But as I kept doing it I felt better and more confident. My SLP also pseudo stuttered so I felt very comfortable doing it with strangers. By the end of the session I was able to say my new last name, which starts with a /g/ sound, without changing it to another sound. I felt a big pressure coming off from my shoulders. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience. It was a good day today! Hope you guys are having a good day as well.
