One thing you could consider is disclosure before you introduce yourself. “Hi everyone, I’m new here and just want you to know that I stutter. My name is xxx. I’m okay with stuttering, hope you will be too.” Similar to another commenter, sharing right from the start will let your new co-workers that you ARE confident and they’ll respect that. This will lessen your anxiety and their’s. Then they won’t wonder what’s going on hearing you stutter for the first time. This is a way to build allies at work. Also, see if you can go first. For most of us who stutter, while awaiting our turn, we dread it so much we work ourself up. Once you’ve gone first, it’s over and you can pay attention to everyone else’s names because you’ll be able to concentrate better.
