I used a similar method when I started high school. I was in a new school where I only knew one person, and to fit in I just acted as if I was cool. It felt like I completely faked my personality at first. But I was able control my speech much better as if I was acting. After a few weeks this had giving me such a confidence boost and I had almost completely adopted this new personality that I faked. Back then I was a covert stutterer and barely stuttered at all around my friends. When I finally did stutter once after knowing them for a few months one of my friends joked that I had a stroke. Which really pissed me of, even though I laughed it off on the outside. I can’t really blame him though since he did not know that I stuttered before then. Just fake it till you make, you can do it! I didn’t really mean to make this post so negative btw. I always try to look at the bright side of things. It’s just kinda hard to describe your problems in a positive manner I guess. Your comment definitely helped!
