I'm in college right now, and the strategy I've been using is pretty similar to the ones recommended by everyone else. I'd say to definitely speak to your teacher face-to-face, a quick minute-long introduction after the first day of class suffices for me. ESPECIALLY in classes that grade on class participation, I find its best to say something to the teacher, because even though I feel like I don't want to make myself an exemption, I inevitably participate in class less if I'm feeling confronted and nervous, which can mean getting lower marks in class. So I'd suggest just putting it out there as a "I don't need special treatment, but I just want to let you know what I'm dealing with, so if you hear any pauses or if I seem hesitant or if I don't speak up as much as everyone else, that's what going on." Plus, it's a GREAT way to personally meet your teachers, which they appreciate and makes the class more interesting :) That's my 2 cents.
