Avoid it completely? I dont know how. But I too have mild stutter thats not noticeable until it is. Most of my stutters are surprise stutters (>95%) on a good day. When it's really important that I speak fluently, I just slow down my rate of speech by a smidgen. And then when it happens, I can 100% control it- mostly because I was speaking slower than usual. I just did a video for my school and so many people said it was amazing to watch. The first time I watched it I was surprised and super happy as well. But then, true to form I noticed that the editors keep in 2 very minor but noticeable (to me) stutters. One it was just my voice so not so noticeable but the other was audio and video and I almost stuttered on the word "perfect". It's really fascinating to see how I cope. But here is the craziest thing, it was the 3rd of three vignettes and I was the last and when I went back and looked at all the people who spoke before me, they had 10 times more "disfluencies than I did. Seriously!
