It's definitely possible to start stuttering in puberty, but it's rare. I started stuttering about age 14 and I still do (I'm 21). If it developed without any trauma or head injury, then they call it a developmental stuttering disorder. Yeah, I can tell exactly which word I'm going to stutter on before I say it. I can sometimes avoid it by saying a similar word. ​
