Not to be *that guy* but we've known that about 75% of preschoolers who stutter will experience unassisted recovery within approximately 12 months of onset for a while now. It was a good little popular press piece, sampling from some reputable authors. (I've read some of Walsh, Kelly, and Reilly's works, they do good science). It is good to know that on the whole preschoolers who stutter are not significantly different from their fluent peers with regard to temperament or emotional development. The fundamental question though (that continues to elude us) is how to distinguish between children who will recover from stuttering from children who will persist into adulthood.
