>My personal take, any SLP that talks or advocates fluency doesn't really get it. Even if they stutter themselves. How do you support such an idea? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning. To me, an SLP's job is to help people learn fluency. Fluency is a legitimate and achievable goal for many people. Therapy can absolutely lead to long-term, natural-sounding fluency when done correctly, without ignoring acceptance or self-esteem.
