Yea can't do anything about anyone's thoughts or actions. The only thing you can control your reactions and actions to what other people do. Personally I would keep it pushing. And I wouldn't assume the reasons behind other people's actions unless they explicitly told me the reason. I just think people do things for host of reasons, some of which may not occur to me. Of course there are times where it's obvious why someone is acting in a certain way due to patterns in behaviour. Maybe this is the case in your situation. In that case, I wouldn't hold it against them either. Because most people don't have a clue what stuttering really is and aren't caught up on the current research. Would you hate or dislike someone if they're simply ignorant of the facts? No, you come from a place of empathy and understanding even if they give you none. Many people in society hold the view that stuttering is purely psychological in it's cause. Therefore they will look down on you because they assume you have low confidence and have low self-esteem. And people tend to avoid people like that. Especially if you're male.
