Oh man, I feel you. I use the classic turn a word into a phrase trick (ie. Hitchhike = walking on the side of the road and asking people to pick me up) or if I can't even get that out "what's that word again? ... Sorry brain fart". It's tragic because my vocabulary is truly immense yet I can't articulate it into fluent sentences. Oh well, but the ladies (or dudes) think we are all great listeners, ahahaha so there's that :)
