It was mostly practicing over and over again with confidence that 'cured' me, yes. Don't give up and lose hope, keep going. The next time you're talking to someone or a group of people and you have to stutter on a word and you just can't seem to get it out, DON'T switch to another sentence, or word; just keep on trying to get that one particular word out. It might sound silly now, but your stutter will only go away if you combat those situations. When in a situation like that, the people will all stare at you, look at you wierd, they might even just switch conversation or start talking to someone else. Still focus on that word for your own sake, even if they're not paying attention anymore. Train yourself to get every single word out, even the words you fear you always block on. This will help you build an attitude that speaks; 'I have a stutter, so what?' Let them wait ten seconds or a minute for you to finish your sentence. Did they not understand a word you said because you stammered so much? Start over again and repeat yourself. Remain eye contact even while your in the middle of your stammer, don't look away to the ground and feel insecure. Stand up straight, chest forward, take a deep breath and go again. Eventually you will get this attitude towards your stutter that you just genuinely don't care anymore. Even if I started to stammer again more now, I wouldn't care and still put myself out there, don't ever let it hold you back, and it will never have a chance to do so. Eventually you'll realize that it really is a petty problem compared to all the other things you have to deal with in your adult life. And once you're at that level, the stammer will probably already have left, since you don't care and think about it anymore. Break down this wall that you create every time you have to speak. If you don't quite follow me or want to know more about my past way of dealing with my stutter, hit me up with a pm and we can hop in a voice com, like TeamSpeak, and I can try to help you.
