Hey there! I remember stuttering since I was a kid, my friend's mom would mention to her that I have a speech problem or kids in school would make fun the way I talked. But, stuttering runs in my family. My uncle (mom's brother) and his son also stutter, I have not gotten to know because they live in Peru. I started speech therapy when i was a junior in high school but I felt like whatever she was doing was not helping me at all. So, i stopped going to the meetings. Once i hit my early twenties is when it hit me, I was not able to talk to new people and noticed i started to get stuck and do a lot of repetitions whenever i had to talk to someone that was around my age. I still cringe from all those moments. Anyway, i after hitting rock bottom I decided to get help. I found a 2 week program at the University of Utah that was lead by Dr. Blomgrem that helped me out so much, not only with my speech but with the way i felt about myself. http://www.health.utah.edu/csd/clinical/stuttering.html After that program my life changed. I started college again, i made new friends, and communicate better than before. I still have those bad habits on trying to avoid my stuttering which makes it even worse.
