Sometimes quite severe, but the more I gave lectures and talks the better it got. If I was in a disfluent period I’d sometimes begin a talk with “I have a stammer, so please be patient.” I’d occasionally have students try and finish my sentences for me etc. Going back to your original point, don’t get me wrong- I probably wouldn’t want a job in a call centre or something.
