Although we do not know the MAIN cause of stuttering, it can be attributed to three different things: * Developmental - Most common, something in our brains develops wrong during growth * Environmental - Not as common and heavily debated topic in the stuttering community. A triggering event or events happen that cause stuttering. * Neurological - Brain injury. Neurological stuttering has completely different characteristics that the other two. To answer your question, you probably would continue to stutter assuming your form of stuttering is developmental, the most common. (Source - I am a speech therapist and person who stutters)
