I am a speech coach and course instructor on the McGuire Programme. Obviously not the same as an SLP, but my life experience and skills gained over the years, to me, make me a perfect person to be in a position to help other adults who stutter. I find SLPs rarely have success with people who stutter above 6 years old. I in fact have spoken to a few very experienced SLPs and they themselves state that for kids under 6, elimination of a stutter is possible, after 6, they just teach physical techniques to manage a stutter - which from my own experience and observation does not work for most adults and adolescents.
