>I know that preparation does help, but speaking fast in general does increase my stutter. Does anyone have any tips on how to talk quickly without stuttering much? Also, more generally, during a nervous situation like a viva voce, what are some ways to reduce your stutter? Some tips for viva voce, that I got from this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/yk5dy0/tips_to_improve_stuttering_according_to_the_book), are: * resist time pressure during your presentation of 10 minutes * prepare a mentality for your presentation where you build tolerance against dysfluency * don't force out blocks * don't plan out each word * don't do escaping/avoiding behavior/techniques * before your presentation, you can say: 'I'm a stutterer so I will speak slower than normal. I hope that is okay with you?' * even if you stutter, don't be bothered by it during viva voce * don't have the intention to speak fluently, rather have the intention to increase your confidence \[reinforce correct mindset\] * Attempt Direct Natural Speech. Reinforce automatic speech where you let your body speak naturally. Don't try to control your speech muscles. **Choose** to let your body speak automatically while being confident that your body can do it * if you experience fear, anticipation or other thoughts (or feelings) that cling to the stutter cycle, then don't care about the fact that these thoughts or feelings are in your mind. Keep these triggers in your mind, don't touch them, don't remove or change them. For example, if you experience a stutter feeling, just leave it be, leave it in your mind, don't be bothered by it while **choosing** to speak with confidence and without symptoms. Don't let anticipation, fear or other thoughts and feelings change your: calm breathing, confidence, the way how you speak and decision to speak without symptoms
