My son (14) is the same way. When he's really having trouble getting the words out, he'll sing them to me. Also, the robot-talking that user weedmonkey mentioned works for him, too. He won't do it in public, but we've seen success at home. In fact, he speaks better when he uses any voice other than his own. He uses humor to deal with stuttering at school, so he's good at funny voices.
