I like the advice about using a character voice. When I'm on the phone with someone who doesn't know me, I've noticed taking on a different speech pattern and pitch can help immensely. Remember, a lot of these people don't know you and won't know you are not using your natural speaking voice. Have fun with it and good for you for having the courage to take this job!
