With regards to stuttering, what is something your parents did really well or really wrong?

With regards to stuttering, what is something your parents did really well or really wrong? My son has a developmental stutter due to his cognitive skills being ahead of his oral motor skills. At the moment he is unaware of it, but knowing how children are, there’s not much time until it’s brought to his attention. Whatever may be the end result, I want to make sure that as a parent I’ve done everything to help him. So what are things you think helped or hindered you?
