I always start with this: "Good morning. My name is Pedro Pena, and I'll be your trainer today. I do have a stutter, so if I get stuck on any word, give me 8 hours, and hopefully, it will come out (audience laughs, which lets me know that we are good to go). If not, and if you know what I'm trying to say, help me to help you because I believe that teamwork makes the dream work, so let's get started ." Once I state this, I get it out there and put everyone at ease so I can now focus on my 4 hour PowerPoint presentation. I like to use humor in my presentations. In doing this for 8 years, I've only had one make a joke about my stutter, and the other audience members asked him to leave. I truly love what I do.
