I tell myself “wow that person is incredibly miserable and/or ignorant” and move on. Life is too short to spend your time thinking about what random people say who have no real connection to you. And the type of person who’s going to make fun of someone with a neurological disability isn’t the type of person you should assign any sort of value to. Do you think that mean person lies awake in bed at night thinking about what they said to you? No! So why should you spend your time dwelling on it? This is all easier said than done. I spend a lot of time on my hobbies and I use that to boost my own self-confidence. I find that being good at things makes me feel better about myself and I know I can be good at just about anything if I just spend enough time on it. I don’t have a beautiful social life or anything like that but being good at things makes me feel good about myself in some roundabout way. That’s just how I handle things. I don’t think there’s one answer that works for everybody. You just have to find what works for your own psyche.
