What do you guys think about the acronyms “AWS” for adult who stutters or “CWS” for child who stutters? I saw a discussion on Facebook about this and wanted your thoughts. I wasn’t sure i agreed with the usage of them, though it seems like they are commonly used by some people, especially in research papers it seems. I like the full phrase “adult who stutters” rather than an acronym. Seems more personal and less like a label. Thoughts? I do say “I stutter” a lot. So, it’s not as if i always use person first language myself. But the acronym seems odd and impersonal to me.
