Hey Just, i'm really sorry you are in this situation. I dont know if your parent's attitude towards your stutter is just self projection or they really do feel that way, but either way it must be very difficult. If you can't get support at home, you can look elsewhere and I really hope you do because support is vital. It isn't a boost or a preferential thing, i've come to realize it's one of the most essential parts of being a healthy person who stutterers. I dont know how close/open you are with your siblings, but you can try there. If they don't understand either, there are other options. Posting on this subred is one good place. There is a sticky thread with skype information for people who want to talk one on one with other stutterers. There are also other web connect options like www.stuttersocial.com. It's a google hangout run a couple times a week where stutterers from all over the world get together in video chat and talk/discuss/practice/ask and most importantly, support. The easiest way to get altered to the hangouts is to join their facebook page. If you live in Amerca, I highly recommend becoming a part of the NSA. They have support group chapters all around country and are very welcoming. It might seem scary at first, but you really have nothing to lose. The NSA also puts on an annual conference, which I know was crucial for my acceptance and understanding of how I can move forward, despite the daily tribulations. Lastly if you can't get out or talk to other people, I really like listening to the stuttertalk podcast, especially the older episodes. I learn a lot and feel reassured to hear other, more knowledgeable people talking about the exact things im going through and feeling. it's really great. Please respond if you have any questions or just want to chat. I'll tell you to stay strong, but I'd much rather hope you take some of the actions above. Taking some action is the only way to get out of this realm of aloneness.
