While I like a "minimalist and free lifestyle", it's best gone into because that's what you desire and not on account of settling. Assuming you like engineering, there's no reason why you shouldn't take that career path as far as you like. There's really no constraints there, it's not like you want to do sports play by play announcing on the radio. There's a lot of low level jobs where speech fluency is taken for granted, like fast food. You'll find a better spot for you by continuing your education. Do what you can to increase your fluency. This doesn't mean focusing on therapy or some sort of cure, but more along the lines of good self care. Keep yourself relaxed and relatively stress free; follow the standard advice - low amounts of sugar and caffeine, exercise, meditation. When you're relaxed, healthy and working towards your goals, people will be attracted. Stuttering is a social impairment, I don't know that there is any complete "fix", you can only do what you can to mitigate it. Don't patronize hookers, particularly not on some sort of regular schedule. Establishing a pattern of trading money for the fulfillment of social and sexual needs isn't going to do you much if any good. I still wouldn't be a huge fan of the idea, but I'd feel different if you had a stable network of male friends.
