As a stutterer, have you had the really uncomfortable social gatherings where you were pressured to talk? This was a long time ago, but when I was 18 and a senior in High School, I went to a family gathering and everybody gathered in a circle around me because they wanted me to discuss with everybody what I was gonna do and what my future plans were (it was as annoying as it sounds). I just kind of had to just sit there and take it and embarrass myself in front of everybody (I couldn't just get up and leave). I'm a shy person who also stutters, so you could imagine how uncomfortable of a situation it was. And embarrassing. They all probably thought I was "special" because I couldn't have a normal conversation like everybody else.
