I don't stutter at all when I drink, but I stutter a lot when I don't. I remember before I ever started drinking, I was a pretty competent speaker all the time, and when I started drinking, I stuttered a lot more when I was hungover. Now that I am in college and drink very frequently, I find it hard to speak when not under the influence. This has affected me deeply, to the point where if I have to give a presentation in class I will get a little drunk beforehand so I speak fluently. I realize this is the beginnings of full blown alcoholism but what can I do? I have no choice - drink or fail my presentation. Stuttering sucks.
