Recently developed a stutter I'm 22 and I recently developed a stutter. It can be really frustrating if I'm talking to my boss or on the phone or trying to order movie tickets and it's gotten to the point where it's hard to have a conversation with my girlfriend. Sometimes when I talk I feel like I'm reading a Dr. Seuss book. The words all cram together and it takes forever to pronounce them and if there are words that are kind of the same I'll replace them with each other, so it feels like I'm constantly saying "sally sells seashells by the sea shore I'm not sure how it started or how long I've had it, I guess I've really noticed it being bad since last fall, but I just notice that it gets worse ever day. I'm curious, because I feel like stuttering usually develops in childhood, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced developing it later on in life and how they felt and what happened and basically that. I feel like, though, it's a symptom of a bigger problem. About 3 years ago I just started feeling numb, mentally, I just didn't think of anything and it has kind of came and gone over the years, some days I'll feel really mentally active and others I feel comatose. The best way I can describe it, is my brain feels fried. There's just nothing going on and the thinking of what to say is tough. It's hard for me to grasp words, I'll often think of what I want to say but only land on a word that sounds close to what I intended to say or that has the same feel or attitude, which often have completely different meanings so I just sound like a freaking idiot. So not only is my physical speech stammerig but my brain is too. All of this doesn't help the anxiety that I've developed either. It kind of all goes hand in hand. Idk, haha. It's worse to me, because I used to be a writer, all through out high school, I wrote all the time and now...nothing. I'm making plans to go see a doctor, but I just want to share my thoughts and get this off my chest.
