I have a master's degree in anatomical pathology. Had a job in a medical examiner's office for a bit and it was awesome. Then due to budget cuts, I was first to lose my job. That was over two years ago. I have had many interviews with hospitals, coroner's offices, medical examiner's and forensic laboratories...all end the same. "You look great on paper but we have serious concerns about your speech." No one wants a pathologist with a severe and profound stutter when they can hire one who doesn't. So what do I do now? I've worked as a janitor in a high school (really great for the self esteem /s), cashier, bus boy and now run the front desk at an auto shop. Advice? I have none. I'm 30 and coming to terms that while yes, I could go to school and get the degrees that doesn't mean the real world wants me. So you can't always get what you want, or you think you deserve. You gotta swallow your pride and take what you can get.
