I would encourage anyone who stutters, or has any communication disability, to keep a card explaining it in your wallet and in your car where you can easily access it. And even if you don't have a card, tell the cop like right away that you stutter and it takes you longer to speak. If you're having a really hard time, you can write it or text it on your phone or even use gestures, those are all valid communication methods. In a better world, cops would be trained on handling people with disabilities, but as you experienced, they're not. And it really only takes one to create a bad experience anyway. I'm so sorry that happened to you. And hopefully you remember that it's 100% the cops fault here. It's ok to stutter and there's nothing wrong with how you speak. He was just being an ass.
