I’ve had some doozies. The one that stuck with me the most is a gentleman that started laughing at me over the phone and actually started to repeat my stutter back to me. I couldn’t even fathom that people really conduct themselves that way. I cut him off and said I suffered a brain injury that left me with a speech impediment and I’ll let you speak with someone else. He tried apologizing but I clicked hold faster than you can believe and gave him to another one of our employees. From that point on I swore I wouldn’t allow it.I will tell them why I stutter then move on. It is not a reflection on me it is a reflection on them.Even though it doesn’t make it hurt less when people crack jokes or are plain out rude, but at the end of the day it doesn’t diminish my value it diminishes theirs.
