Same… Started stuttering at 4. Stuttered regularly until 11… Turned 12 and it was largely gone for the rest of my teenage years and military experience… Had a tough time following combat… I couldn’t really speak sentences for several months. ETS’d and went home and it went away in college… Gone for 10 years…. Then it came back following horrible experience during PhD. I am working with the University speech and communication folk right now to get some fluency back. I have noticed that hormonal changes have correlated with some of the difficulties. Started testosterone and oxytocin therapies… Also introduced cortisol blockers. Not exactly a magic bullet, but have noticed more good days than bad. It definitely remains a daily struggle, but I’ve learned to live, and succeed with it.
