Yeah, it's funny how we don't stutter when we talk to ourselves, isn't it? If it helps, try reading to someone else, or just recording a regular conversation. The point of it all is to help you identify "trouble spots." Stress and childhood trauma could be the cause of stuttering, but whatever the cause, stuttering shouldn't be dismissed that easily. I've heard the same "you walk too fast" spiel over and over again, and the truth is - it's bullshit. Sometimes I stutter when I talk fast, sometimes I stutter when I talk slow. There's no given rule. Being relaxed seems to help me quite a bit though. Keep at it, you'll get all the confidence you need eventually, and if there's ever any way that I can help you out, don't hesitate to drop me a PM.
