I would recommend to always be open to him about his stuttering. My parents were never openly acknowledging about mine, most likely because they thought it embarrassed me or made me uncomfortable to talk of it. And although in my younger years it never affected me, when I became older I began to feel alienated because of that lack of openness. I still don't really know how to openly talk about it with my parents. I guess that's something I need to address....
