Anyone have an occasional stutter? One that comes and goes but NOT in correspondence with anxiety/nerves/etc? Kind of lost.. Hey all 👋 I've got a question that I can't seem to find the answer for and was wondering if anyone has some insight. 99% of the time I don't stutter. I wouldn't even call myself a stutterer because I only have a handful of incidences a year, and it's only been happening for two years (I'm 19 almost 20). I know it's not anxiety or emotionally influenced only because I have bipolar disorder and I was in therapy for nearly 7 years, and being stable now I am deeply in tune with my emotions/moods/stress factors and how they affect me. When it happens it usually only happens for a day or two, and it seems I only get caught up on words that start with an "eye", "ee", or "eh" sound and it's not consistent that it happens each time with those words and occasional blocking. However, this time I've had a consistent stutter that always gets hung up on those sounds with increased word blocking that has lasted for nearly a week now. I don't know if this is connected to stuttering or not, but I always (on a regular basis) use a lot of word replacement, and by that I mean my brain thinks one word but my mouth says something else entirely, but it's usually easy to figure out what I mean as long as 1) you're familiar with me and 2) you know the context. Lately though I've noticed an increase in word replacement and mixing up sounds with word pairs (like best friend being "breast finnd" and the like). I know these behaviors are somewhat normal, and something everyone does, I just found it odd that I've had an increase in the word replacement and sound switching at the same time as the stutter so I thought it necessary to share. Does anybody have any insight to this at all?! I'm at a loss ------------------ Story time: I work retail and the other day when I meant to tell a customer and her husband "and if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask me" I said "if you have any other questions don't BOTHER to ask me" and thankfully they just laughed it off understandingly while I apologized to excess. However, for the rest of their time there much teasing ensued and I kept apologizing every time I saw them, it was super embarrassing
