This doesn't really apply to your situation but for everyone else who may read this: Nope. I've worked in retail and hospitals and if I've ever felt like I needed assistance or something (like making a phone call to IT support) I've just asked a coworker to do it for me and they've never skipped a beat. I should say that I have a persistent stutter so it's obvious to coworkers on day one. I don't think they know how to handle it and don't offer assistance afraid of offending me or whatever. But when I do ask for help they don't act awkward or something. Just speak up (no pun intended).
